Washington Becomes First State to Pass Long-Term Care Law
May Lead to Increased Business for Home Care Agencies
Washington recently enacted the Long-Term Care Trust Act into law, requiring state residents to pay into a long-term care program through an employee payroll tax starting no later than January 2022. Eligible residents would then have access to financial support for home care, meal deliveries and home modifications. The state will begin paying benefits in January 2025. Washington is the first state to pass this kind of long-term care support law.
